Can my Children Have Guinea Pigs and are they Suitable?Guinea Pigs are fantastic family pets. They have a life span of up to 8 years, so they certainly are a commitment. We opperate on pets are for life, not just for Christmas. This doesn't mean, don't get one. But we encourage all parents to understand that if the child doesn't care fully for the guinea pig then they should take it upon themselves to care for the pet. We also advise that all interactions with Guinea Pigs should be supervised by an adult. Guinea Pigs are sociable and loving animals, when they're wheeking for food and chatting quietly away to their friend or you, you know they're happy. :-)
